Today’s selection might seem weird, but it’s made my writing life so much easier this summer. That’s because, in early May, I had the task of cleaning and stripping my back deck. if you know me at all, you’d know the deck becomes my outdoor office in the summertime. Yet, last summer, I didn’t use it that much, mainly because it was ugly. U.G.L.Y! I’d used water sealer on treated wood (big no-no) then my husband tried to paint a railing before giving up and going inside.
So despite the flowers blooming and the daily visit from the hummingbirds last year, I just couldn’t sit outside. It was depressing! I kept busy with other things and didn’t write at all last summer. Fall found me working at my dining room table–I don’t have a writing area in my house unless you include the kitchen counter.
When spring came around this year, I knew I had to do something. I decided while Danny was away on a business trip, I’d clean and strip the deck. Only that’s a lot harder than you’d think. Even with a top-of-the-line paint stripper, it was a struggle. On a whim, I rented a power washer from Home Depot to do a deep clean.
And it changed my life!
After I saw how easily it stripped stain and water sealer, I bought my own–a Ryobi 1600 psi Electric Power Washer. It’s portable and lightweight, perfect for a woman to use. With both a spray and foam nozzle, it did everything I needed it to do and more! I highly recommend this product to clean around the outside of your house, driveway, decks, and even car tires. For $99 at Home Depot, it’s a steal!
